Lately...
This past weekend we went to my sister's house to mourn the passing of Alex's youth. We celebrated his birthday Friday night, and partied again Saturday for Alex, Hailey and mom's birthdays, all of which are in the end of January. We spent the rest of our time watching Blue Ray DVDs on their new flat screen (which has spoiled us forever,) eating cake pretty much non-stop, and planning our vacation to ITALY!!! That's right!! We have bought our tickets, and we're heading to the boot in March. For about 2 years, Jon and I have justified every purchase we make on our American Express with the excuse: "but we're getting sky miles!" Well, it's finally paid off. We've managed to get enough miles to equal one free ticket to Italy. Thanks to my travel agent (AKA Hillary), we've found a couple great places to stay and are planning all the things we want to see. We're going to be around the Florence, Cirque Terre, Pisa and Venice area. Italy has been the number one place I want to visit for as long as I can remember. I can't wait!!!!

Jack the pouncing carnivore
I need advice from all my friends who are seasoned pros in the mommy sector. My child is a total spaz. Let me give you the pre-spaz version first: Normally, my sweet little boy takes 2 naps a day. I just give him his passy, lay him down and walk out. He'll go right to sleep for 1-2 hours per nap. Then he sleeps about 12 hours at night. When he's awake, he's cheerful and can entertain himself. This all changed about 2 weeks ago. I put him down for his morning nap as usual, and he proceeded to scream for 1+ hours until I finally gave up. This happened a few times, with me going in and rescuing him after a good half hour or so of screaming. Now, he refuses to take a morning nap, even though he's cranky and rubbing his little eyes. Then he only takes a one hour or so nap in the afternoon. Then this morning he wakes up at 6:45!!!! (That's an hour earlier than he normally wakes up). Have I ruined him by going in when he screams? Are we giving up the morning nap all together?! I'm not ready!!!
Along with this whole personality change came the biting. He has started biting his mama and thinks it's hilarious. He also likes to scream at the top of his lungs, just because he likes the sound. ADVICE PLEASE!!! Can you discipline a one year old?

5 Years Down, Eternity to Go!
Jon and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on January 3rd. Five whole years of wedded bliss! ;) We've been through jobs, school, renting, owning, traveling, and parenting. What more can life have to offer? We're planning a big trip this spring, so we just did something low key for our actual anniversary day. Jon bought me red roses, my favorite, and a cute card. We dropped the Jack off with his Grammie, and went to see Twilight.
(FINALLY!! I've been dying to see it ever since opening day, and Jon finally caved in and agreed to see it with me.) Then we went to Buckhead to a sushi restuarant called the BlueFin.
It was positively exquisite.
We topped off the evening with Chik-Fil-A ice dream cones, and were home at 9:30. What a life!!! We've had such a great 5 years so far, and are so excited for what life has in store for us. And it looks like I'll have to save my Figi trip for our 10 year anniversary. Here are just a few choice shots showcasing our past 4 years. (Didn't get the digital camera until our 1 year anniversary, so life is undocumented before then :) )
